A HOT List Completion!
This marked my completion of the Arizona County Highpoints. I left nearly two hours prior to sunrise and the temperature was already in the 70s. UGH. I took the supposedly brushier north slope route variation, which I thought was straightforward and possibly only added a little extra time each direction. When I got back to the SUV, the temperature was already in the mid-80s and rising fast. DOUBLE UGH. Then was the long, bumpy drive out, dodging many four-wheelers and dirt bikes along the way. When I arrived back in Phoenix, the temperature was already 108. TRIPLE UGH. Fire danger ended up being extreme for that day and the rest of the weekend. I squeezed in this summit prior to the monsoon season, but although it was an enjoyable route (except for the long drive each direction) I would not recommend going there in early Summer during a heatwave.

Motherlode!
Big day doing the four peak motherlode! We went north to south. Trip Report
Hiked up the scree chute to Browns Peak from Four Peaks Summit parking area. Total distance 8 1/2 miles, and round trip elevation gain of about 2,200'. The scree chute was much easier than I thought it would be. A couple tricky moves on the way up, but nothing too bad.

That chute!!!
Great adventure on the 18 mile road in. Poor rental car. It survived though, as did I. That chute is something else! Only spent 15 mins on top, because I had so much anxiety about going back down the chute.

Went up the east side bypass which sucked and came down the standard couloir which is a much better route. trip report

Ran/Scramble long overdue
I've been waiting years to do this peak, since seeing it from Gilbert on a regular basis, but the stars have never aligned. My wife and I ran and scrambled up and it was a blast! The scree chute was fun, aside from being super cold from grabbing all the cold rock. The drive was half the adventure, but I highly recommend coming up the East side/El Oso road from Tonto basin as we only spent 30 minutes on smooth but steep dirt road. Classic climb IMO, loved it.

Lovely Day in Summer
It was a great day to hike/climb this lovely peak. Got lucky since the temps can be menacing this time of the year. I will do it again. It is one of my favorite peaks.

Camped near the saddle. Climbed a snow filled gully to the summit for Valentines day.

not so brushy
Drove in on Four Peaks Road. Hiked to saddle and opted for north slope brushy gully which had good visibility, no leaves, this early in the season. Also some fires had helped clear it out. Found use trails and scampered up to the summit.

A do over
Hiked from Oak Flat at the end of FR445 (which is a good road from Hwy. 188 until the stream crossing shortly before the TH) on the 123 Trail to the Arizona Trail, then Amethyst Trail, to just below the saddle where it meets the regular trail, then up the rock scramble. Returned down the regular trail to the parking lot, walked the road to the Pigeon Springs TH and took the AZT back to the 123 junction just past Shake Spring and back down 123. Total distance was 11.9 miles with 4492 feet of gain. 123 is very steep, the 1.8 miles up took me an hour.

A beautiful warm day
Had wanted to hike up on the Arizona Trail but was too far for a day hike and didn't want to backpack it so rode my motorcycle up El Oso Rd. from Hwy. 188. A nice fun scramble from the saddle.

Snow in February
There was a lot of snow on sheltered/north-facing parts of the trail, all the way down to near trailhead elevation. The chute to the summit was filled with deep snow in the middle; I tried to avoid post-holing by climbing up the sides, but that involved a lot of exhausting Class 4 moves!

Just getting to the trailhead is fun. It was a slow drive but the road was in good condition. Went up the chute which was a steep and straight forward route.

Spend at lot of time in the Phoenix area and have always wanted to to get up in the Four Peaks but the road in had seemed to been an issue. So we got a Wrangler, not that you need it, this time. Fun half day route.

Solo up the chute!
It was sunny and clear and the views were incredible. Saw snow capped Humphreys in the distance. Well worth the effort for the views.

Hiked this one with my dad. We wore helmets in the chute. Not so bad, the drive in was the worst part.

Four Peaks Winter Storm
Our group of 7 planned on getting to the summit of Four Peaks but had to call it quits when we decided not to go any further with 3+ feet of snow and we weren't even to the saddle yet. We also had lost the trail because of the snow which had covered it. We were thinking that the summit probably had about 7+ feet of snow and that the chute would have been covered and very dangerous. It would still be a dream to do it in the Winter
