| olymountainman | fun, easy, solo day climb ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 25, 2012 | |
| This is a beautiful area. It's also an extremely easy climb, more of a hike, seeing as though there was trail going from marmot pass all the way to the summit, so dont let the mentioning of class 3 on this page deter you from climbing it. The omcg calls the southwest(highest) summit a class 2, this page says summit is class 3, I call it class 1 with a trail and no exposure. Big Quilcene trailhead to summit: 2hrs 45mins, with many stops for photography, Fun hike :) | ||

| Great summit and beautiful views of the range. However this peak, like many others in the range, falls into the same category that I absolutely detest: long, boring river valley hikes. I'm a a person who loves alpine environments and I certainly got my fill today. But the 5.2 miles from Marmot Pass back to the TH was absolutely monotonous. I can only go "Ooo look a tree" so many times. It all looks the same after a while. | ||

| Tried for the Northeast last fall but too windy to do safely. On the list for 2012. September 8th, 2012 - Took a beautiful autumn day to finally visit the northeast peak, then up to the southwest summit for beer and a spectacular sunset! | ||

| Both Buckhorn summits plus Iron and Worthington. 11.5 hours round-trip. It's pretty gnarly scrambling from Buckhorn to Iron. A video by Bryan: | ||

| pingzingr | Good day ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 12, 2011 | |
| Nice day in the mountains. With the exception of the 3 hours on the scree field. DO NOT take the scree field up, there is a nice trail that goes from Marmot Pass to the top. | ||

| When I was 12, I scrambled up the side of Buckhorn while my mom was having lunch on the trail below. I got to the saddle before going back. I've always wanted to return and climb the peak for real, and this past weekend I finally got to the top. Great hike with amazing views. | ||

| rasgoat | Nice, easy mountain ![]() | |
| Great day out, we saw a goat up real close and a bear from afar. the views were great. Careful if going anywhere near the saddle because we got held up in some class four downclimbing from the summit. The route up to marmot pass and to the summit from there was a pleasure, very fun & scenic. | ||

| Hi, Were you able to see The Puget Sound and Cascades from the sw summit? Is the sw summit easier to hike than the ne summit? Thank you Rob | ||

| Myself and two buddies backpacked to Camp Mystery and spent the night. We woke up the next morning around eight, had a light breakfast, and made our way up the mountain. It took about an hour and fifteen minutes to get to the summit from Camp Mystery. The views were excellent! | ||

| tleaf | Pretty dirty up there ![]() | |
| My husband and I headed up towards Marmot Pass, got a little crazy and climbed the steep talus slope, route I,3 to the col between Buckhorn's two peaks. I always love climbing the "never-ending scree slope" but it was well worth the effort. Much more interesting than taking route I,2. We enjoyed the mountain to ourselves and had great weather. | ||

| bmwboarder7 | Lucky Beautiful Trip in March ![]() | |
| Somehow we ended up backpacking in the Olympics in March with clear weather for three days. Buckhorn had great views of the other mountains, as well as a view back down the valley towards the sound. | ||
