Bumblebee on Big-Leaf Aster, Isle Royale

[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Bumblebee on Big-Leaf Aster, Isle Royale
Bumblebee on Big-leaf aster, Aster macrophyllus, Scoville Point trail near Tobin Harbor, Isle Royale.

The big-leaf aster is very common on the island. The lavender color and the large toothed leaves distinguish it from the (white) flattop aster, which has slender, untoothed leaves.

August 2007.
