Nice hike. Warm temps, but nice breezes. Was trying to reach other peaks in the area, but I'm too slow these days and the ranger warned that the gates would be locked early (instead of around sunset) due to short staffing.

It was pretty foggy when we did this, which kept the temperatures down.
Taking advantage of a nice day and the infrequently opened Dowdy entrance, I enjoyed a pleasant wildflower display.
(The summit register is soaked beyond utility.)

Been here twice, the first being in 2008 from the nearby (mostly closed) Visitor's Center, and the most recent in 2012 by bicycle from Bell's Station (Highway 152)

May 2003From Hunting Hollow. Mariposa lilies in bloom -- white, yellow and pink varieties, spectacular. Hot weather the first day, cool and foggy the next.
Also did it as an overnight in October 2010.
