Bush penstemon (Penstemon fruticosus var. serratus) and yellow buckwheat (Eriogonum flavum) are just two of many wildflower species that grow in profusion on Heavens Gate. This particular variety of penstemon grows only on the mountains and ridges above the Snake and Salmon Rivers in this vicinity. July 2005
