Quartz Peak Descent FKT 25:37

Up in 56 minutes, down in 25 and change. Combined time was 15 minutes faster than the up and back FKT, but I wanted to sit on the summit and take things in, sign the summit register, etc.
The all-white quartz covered summit was cool and super unique.
A few minutes after starting down I cracked my shin super hard (bled even through my sleeve), so I kept it measured the rest of the way down to manage the pain and not get hurt more. It was surprisingly hot.
On the way up I saw a lady and a man and was pretty sure she was bottomless before she pulled a skirt down before I got close. On top they had signed the summit register “hike naked”. Funny.
Super remote area and really fun.

Great Scenery!
I only went up to Quartz since my drive in took me too long but I will come back to tag Butterfly as well. This is a fantastic hike with a really remote feel. Awesome views.

Nice Hike
Really great hike. really wanted to do Butterfly but oddly enough, I am a Ben and I got there at 11am (from previous comments). I had to get the kids by 5pm. I think the way to Butterfly is a big hike, not close, not quick, not easy. Sounds like my kinda fun. next time, I get there early.

Butterfly and Quartz
Got Butterfly Peak this time along with Quartz. Butterfly is further away than it looks from Quartz's summit. Nice rugged scramble over there.

Quartz Peak
Cool, humid day, which is weird for PHX ranges. Butterfly was tantalizingly close, but daylight was running low. Maybe Ben will wake up before 11 am next time...

hazy day on quartz peak
Did this hike with a small group from Arizonahikers.com. A beautiful day in December overlooking the Phoenix metro. Could hardly get any views due to a brush fire nearby making it to smokey to see hardly anything. Very impressive boulders of quartz on top. I wish we made the hike to Butterfly Peak.
