Cañada de las Siete Lagunas

Cañada de las Siete Lagunas
Views from the shoulder that leads up to the summit of Mulhacén and to the Poqueira Hut. For summer camping (although not officially authorised without a permit) can be found above the larger lake on the drier ground- here there are several springs for fresh water. There are also some good campsites higher up the valley but are off route.

It is better to camp below the lake during winter to have closer access to the waterfall (which is the easiest source of water- with an ice axe).

The shoulder in the top right hand of the pic is the way to Alcazaba.
