Cairns, posts and signs are...
Cairns, posts and signs are sparsely placed along the Horsethief Trail as it crosses the vast and expansive tundra of American Flats, north of Engineer Pass in the San Juan mountains. This former jeep trail still scars the land, but in other spots it is barely evident, particularly the further one gets from civilization. Wildhorse Peak is on the left, and 14er Wetterhorn Peak is on the right.
