Not only have I driven through countless times, I've also hiked and camped in the area several times.

Everyone's driven through the pass - please don't sign the climber's log if this is all you've done. But if you've gotten off the pavement and explored area trails, peaks, and side canyons, then please do! This is a very interesting and scenic place to explore once you've gotten off the beaten path.
