| Extremely windy up top on this day, and couldn't see much of anything. A cool experience nonetheless. | ||

| Have been up Camel's Hump many times over the years but 1999 was my first winter climb of the mountain. It was classic new england weather on top with 10 feet of visibility and high winds. The trail down was great with awesome butt glissading! A great peak. | ||

| Made the summit amid mad winds. Didn't have to crawl like some people the day before but just barely! Couldn't see a thing. Bleh. | ||

| mtnbnd | Route Climbed: Ascended Burrows Trail - descended Forest City Trail Date Climbed: August 25, 2005 ![]() | |
| Perfect weather. Ascended the Burrows Trail which in rainy conditions is probably a rocky drainage path for water coming down the mountain. Connected with the Long Trail at about the same area we went above timberline. Summit offered some amazing views. It was a clear day so it seemed like we could see forever. There were about eight other people at the summit when we got there. Most were quietly having a snack and enjoying the view. One group of four had a young boy and a dog with them. The boy was running around yelling which was making the dog bark like crazy. They left after about five minutes and the rest of us were able to enjoy the view in peace. We descended by the Long Trail to the Forest City trail. It was a great day for a hike on a beautiful mountain. | ||

| A very intense experience, particularly getting on to the south ridge via the Long Trail. It was very foggy and windy on top (with a wee bit of rain), but I did find an alpine sunflower blooming just as I got to the alpine zone. | ||

| Windy and rainy, still enjoyed the peak a lot, on the summit the wind was gusting around 70mph, spent 20mins or so on top playing in the wind... great time. Enjoyed Vermont's peaks. | ||

| Nice long hike out, waiting for thunder heads to pass, windy above the timberline, almost got pealed off the rock rounding a corner into the fold that leads to the summit. Clouds cleared a little once I got on top. Found one of the benchmarks while up there. AER | ||

| We had a wonderful day climbing to the summit. It was around 25 degrees and 4 or 5 inches of fresh powder. My 13 year old daughter Ally, my 8 year old son Aaron, friend Scott and his 16 year old daughter and 14 year old son Tyler all made it to the summit, though we had a limited view due to cloud cover. We left the winter parking lot around 8:30 am and finished the round trip by 2 p.m. I am real proud of all the kids. This was a long trip (extra .8 miles due to the winter parking lot) and the first time on snowshoes for a few of them. Only saw 5 other people all day. This is a great winter climb and I highly recommend it to all. Darryl | ||

| Camels Hump is a special place. I can see it from my back deck and usually try to get there a few times a year. If you have time to explore, look for the plane crash on the Alpine Trail. | ||

| Climbed with Flanders on one of the most perfect weather days I've ever had in the mountains. Sunny but not too hot. Easy hike up the Monroe Trail and then a neat brook crossing on the Dean Trail. Great ponds just before you hit the junction with the Long Trail and turn north to climb up the south ridge. Fun scramble and steep trail at times. Had some lunch on a small rock outcropping in the sun. Was neat to have a rocky-topped mountain after a few tree-covered ones the days before. Ran in to the same ranger on the summit as a few days earlier on Mansfield. Great hike down amid autumn colors and then we hit the Ben & Jerry's factory for a celebratory scoop of ice cream (or two.......or actually five in my case.....I can't help it. I am weak when it comes to Chocolate Fudge Brownie). | ||

| Clear views - great day, no wind and 60 degrees on the summit. Say 'Hi' to summit caretaker Brian - and stay off his fragile arctic-alpine vegetation and leash your dog. | ||

| This was a classic hike! Camel's Hump is to the Green Mountains what Mt. Lafayette is to the White Mountain in that it may not be the tallest but the views can't be beat by any other surrounding mountain. | ||

| I climbed this with my cousin Shane. We had really nice views of the adirondacks, and the nearby vermont mountains. It was a pretty fun hike even though it was pretty crowded. there was even a guy at the top making sure nobody stepped on the fragile alpine vegetation. | ||
