Camp 1 on Chopicalqui | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Setting up Camp 1 on Chopicalqui (Cordillera Blanca), at around 5,600 meters above sea level. Camp 1 is actually the third camp for the peak, after Base Camp and Moraine Camp. The clouds here closed in about 20 minutes later, and didn't part again until we had descended from the summit the next day almost all the way back down to this camp.
