IntroductionIf you are lured by the beauty and wide-ranging possibilities of the Italian Dolomites you will probably at some point head towards Marmolada and Sella groups. If so, the following will be a place for you to stay.
At the foothills of Marmolada there is a truly magical camping. It is far away from the closest street and occupies a large space close to a forest and a small river. There are no mosquitoes, though.
The camping space is located on several levels which guarantees a feeling of cosiness and privacy. Small alleys and little bridges guide you through the area. The camping is beautifully taken care of, you will find little ponds with fish, and flower pots everywhere. There are also several benches and tables with a roof at the camping site that let you cook and eat in a nice atmosphere and protect you from rain.
In the main building you will find several showers with hot water open 24h, a laundry room with washing machines, a baby room, a bar and a store (fresh Italian ciabatta and other bread is available every morning). The bathroom facility is on the first floor, indoors, nicely decorated with old style furniture and hand-made pillows and relaxing silent music is played.
There is also a La Pagoda, a little hut to hang out in bad whether, a great place to meet other travelers, play cards or listen to music.
There is also a possibility of renting camping houses.

How to get there
Malga Ciapela is a tiny town that should be on most maps, if not, find Canazei, the closest larger town and there follow signs towards Marmolada.
Closest trails
The camping is at the trailhead leading to e.g. Rif. Falier (2080 m), Cima Ombretta (3011 m), and Punta Penia (3343 m). You can also get in a few minutes by car to trailheads in the Sella group or take a walk into a nearby canyon leading to a tiny town of Sottoguda. My experienceIt is the cleanest and most beautiful camping I have ever been to in Europe. You can see the owners put a lot of heart into it. It is very comfortable, quiet, cheap and located just at the trailhead. Best come in Spring or early Summer, as in August there are many more guests. It is a really wonderful place to stay and relax after your hikes or climbs! Images
