Campo Uno on Huascarán
There were a couple of tents already when we arrived the day before, but there was plenty of room at Campo Uno at around 5300m. We camped slightly lower, where it was cleaner. Next day, as we left for Campo Dos, there still were a lot of tents.

Some of these were from a party of Spanish climbers. We met and talked to them earlier on. They had heard a weather report that predicted that it wouldn't be a good day tomorrow, so, instead of only moving to Campo Dos today, which is the normal way of things, they had decided to go for the summit of Huascar;an Sur (6746m) straight from Campo Uno. Now that's a big day! I mean, climbing 1500m itself is big, but not excessive, but when you start this high, it's a whole different ball game. And the route isn't exactly a walk in the park either!

We would meet them later in the day, as we ourselves arrived in Campo Dos. They had made it, but were very, very tired, and still had to do the dangerous section back down to Campo Uno.
