canyon ghost

canyon ghost

Paria Canyon, at the confluence with Buckskin. It was very early morning, just starting to get light. Every one else was still in their tents. I opened the shutter and walked into the frame. 30 second exposure, when I was moving you can't see me, I pause twice for a few seconds, and that left the ghostly images. With the time scales of these canyons, millions of years in the making, this image is how I felt while visiting there, just a ghost, passing through it, but not really touching it at all.

So awesome ..

Quick question!

Did you hear what happened on the North Fork
of the Virgin River?

FOUR kayaking parties were rescued over the
weekend in the Zion Narrows. ("Two stranded
kayakers tried to climb out of the Narrows,
but were able to climb only 800 ft above the
river. They were rescued when a helicopter
from Grand Canyon NP was called.")

Zion Narrows is a Class 5, isn't it ?? ?

Re: So awesome ..

There must have been rain. I did the Narrows a few years ago with my wife and (then) 13 year old daughter. It was in June and the water never got deeper than mid thigh. In those conditions it was a class 3 or 4 hike. But to try to escape the canyon up the walls would be very tough. I am sure it is 5.14 lots of places.

Re: So awesome ..

I added a pic of our hike in the narrows. Check it out here

This is how the whole hike went, low water, easy going. If you are thinking about it, in my book it is a must do hike.

This is an amazing photo

Did you use "Water Mark" to combine the two pix?

Re: This is an amazing photo

No, this was very early in the morning. It was still fairly dark. This is a 30 second exposure. I hit the shutter and then walked into the shot. I had to try a few to get it to look like this, you could not see me moving, so I paused a few seconds at those two spots, I was having fun.
