My 1st county highpoint  Sucess!

Just started the Ca county high point challenge today, figured it'd be a great way to see California and spectacular views, even though I have done very little hiking before. Naturally, since I live in Folsom, just across the American River, I made this my first highpoint. The gate at the top of Caversham was locked, so I just took the path further down the hill, and followed the tall grass just beyond the fenceline of all the houses. The hike prob took 3x longer, but thats prob not saying much for this hp. I always drive on Iron Point down the hill, but the view of the valley from the top is still great. kinda hazy though today.

Eh..  Sucess!

Probably the only "climb" I've done that took less than a minute C-T-C.

My how times change  Sucess!

Came up in 2001, hiked the hill - totally void of buildings. Came back in 2005, now the hill was full of homes. Amazing.

Good biking conditioner  Sucess!

This hill is less than 3 miles from where I currently live. I first went up to get a clear view of meteor showers. Since then its been a good hill to climb on my bike. In the past couple of years, Folsom has intesively developed this area and while the summit remains the same, it is now surrounded by houses. Unfortunately there is also a gate that seems to be closed most of the time. This 'mountain' is also known as Mt Costco in honor of the wholesale retail chain situated at its base.

Parked in cul-de-sac, walked up  Sucess!

Was attending the JavaOne conference in San Francisco, and left the conference early to bag highpoints. This was 3 of 3 highpoints for the afternoon.

Nice view, but a bit hazy. Picked up the geocache on the summit too.

Main path  Sucess!

Took about 15 mins for the family to walk up the paved road. My 2yr old son (Devin) was huffing and puffing up the hill, but did all the walking by himself. There are actually some pretty nice views of Sac, the costal ranges, Sutter Buttes and Folsom Lake.

It's pretty embarassing to call this a peak - oh wait they don't - it's a hill. There are something like three Starbucks visible from the summit. Did this with Sutter Buttes and Cobb Mtn in a silly day of cohp'ing that involved more hours of driving than hiking. Trip Report

Route Climbed: Main route Date Climbed: February/4/2006  Sucess!

Very easy climb. I did it with my wife who is 6 months pregnant. It was her first summit of anything. It took about 2 minutes to reach the summit . We spent about 15 minutes on top and then went to Babies"R" us.

Route Climbed: There's a route? Date Climbed: April 11, 2004  Sucess!

It was Easter Sunday and was being spent at my Sister in law's who lives not far from Carpenter Hill. I dropped the family off and made the 15 minute drive to the gate at the access road. I decided to make it a quick expedition so I sprinted up the road, found the rock with the benchmark and jumped up on the rock to make sure I had the county highpoint. Checked out the the views which were quite nice and headed back to the car. Total CTC round trip time was about 8 minutes. This trip was followed by a great Easter feast.
