our copy has now matured enough to display this kind of bark. Hamamelis virginiana, vernalis(ozarks) and chinese are shrubs so probably do not show this characteristic. We have shrub Hamaemelis vernalis (ozarks) as well and its leaf is pretty much the same as that of Parrotia Persica.
