Castle Mountain, Alberta

[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Castle Mountain, Alberta
Castle Mountain, Banff NP, Alberta, Canada

2,766 m. (9,074 ft.)

As viewed from Rt. 1, the Trans-Canadian Highway

A lesser-known fact: "Nearby to Castle Mountain is the site of a First World War internment camp where unnaturalized Ukrainian immigrants to Canada were confined. Life in the camps was often described as 'grim'; with its isolated location far from the roads of the time, the Castle Mountain camp was an ideal place to confine 'enemy aliens' and 'suspected enemy sympathisers'."
