Almost no snow! Some icy spots but a mostly straightforward hike up to the summit. Beautiful warm weather and conditions for January. Bring on the snow though!

Mount Tallac
Took the standard Cathedral Lake Trail up and down. Great hike. Incredible views, obviously, of Lake Tahoe. But some very underrated views of Crystal Range. Was quite windy on this day. Once we peaked at the ridge before ascending the final mile or so to the summit, winds were sustained at 30-40 mph and gusting to 50 mph.

Views Stunning
My 11 year old son and I made this beautiful hike - which was made harder than it looked by the trail being so often made up of round golf ball size rocks that strain your brakes going down.

Good trail
Good steady climb. Not a lot of switch backs. And there was plenty of great views of Lake Tahoe and the rest of Desolation Wilderness.

Every yearEven saw a grade school class summiting on a field trip once. No better place to nap in the sun than on the summit-what views.
