| did it w/ Guillaume after 5 days of acclimatization w/ backpack, tents, fuel and food for 4 days. Started on Bolivian side. Chilean slope in great condition for descent. Terrrrrific views over Sajama area. | |

| The car left us on the bolivian side (normal route) at a little bit less than 4800m. As it was our first serious climb of our stay, it took 6 hours to Fabrice and I to get to the summit. Good weather, but very strong winds on the last third of the ascent. Alone on the mountain. Mostly (easy) rocky and sandy slopes, with (approx.) 300 meters of snow at the end. Amazing views over Sajama and Lauca National parks. We got up there with our 15kg rucksacks and went down on the other side, ready to climb Guallatiri on the next day. | |

| We cycled from Sajama to the turn-off to the mining road near Chachacomani. From there we were able to cycle about 60% of the way to 5,100m where we made our base camp, pushing the rest. Took my bike up to 5,500m on the mine road the following day (it's in good condition to about 5,250m), then both of us summitted the day after. Took 4 hours from base camp (staying E of the N ridge for most of the time, before climbing up the top part of the E ridge to the summit) despite Haz being sick - nice easy climb if you're acclimatized with no steep gradients and no snow to cross when we were there. Great views from the top - probably better than from the N summit of Parinacota or from the summit of Sajama. Harriet and Neil | ||

| We climbed it from the mining road close to the border station, app. 5100m. The climb was completely free of snow, we didn't use grampons or ice axe. The glacier on the top was full of penitentes, but you could easily pass the ice on the left. Nice climb, if you are used to the altitude, especially the view from the top is amazing. You can start from Sajama village and drive to the starting point in the morning (given that you know the way...), so you can sleep quite low (4200m) and avoid camping in the dust, very recommendable. Great day-trip to an 6000-meter-peak! | |
