Cerro Plata

[ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Cerro Plata
The summit of Cerro Plata (ranging from 5900m - 6300m, depending upon whom you speak to) from the summit of Cerro Vallecitos (5470m by my GPS). The normal route to the summit of El Plata crosses the lower snowfield (many penitentes, this season, most walkers cut around left of this snowfield) and from thence to the skyline ridge leading to the summit at right (December 2007).

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."   --Calvin Coolidge
