| After being told we couldn't climb any mountains in Chile without a permit, and they wouldn't issue permits because of the weather, we went to San Pedro and found out permits weren't needed. We drove up as far as possible until we were stopped by the fresh snow (about an hour's hike to the mining camp) and then hiked up from there, about 3 1/2 hours up and 1 1/2 down. Heavy clouds blowing in and out made for limited but beautiful views. |
