Via Chair Creek  Sucess!

Did a steep, slow bushwhack up Chair Creek to access the standard East Ridge route. Can't say I enjoyed this climb very much.

East Ridge  Sucess!

This was a great climb with my brother, Kane, and Jim. The views from the top were beautiful. I'm not sure of the next time I will climb this mountain, but I hope that I will be able to again.

East Ridge  Sucess!

I enjoyed my company that day. Chair will go down as my second favorite climb of 2006.

East Ridge  Sucess!

A good day up there with Kane, Gareth, and Meghan. Some good views from the top of this one. The few hundred feet from the basin up to the ridge was some of the loosest terrain I've been on in a while.

East Ridge  Sucess!

I was extremely privileged to be invited, along with my sister, to accompany Kane and Jim on this climb. This climb ranks among the very best that I have ever done. Chair is a very elegant mountain, and its mystique is heightened by the difficulty in reaching it. It’s sort of an odd thing to say, but this climb only could have been better if I had had a few years of gazing on it and romanticizing about it. However, I know that this will now happen in the coming years. Every time that I see Chair from now on, this climb will deepen in meaning for me. As the years go by, my soul increasingly sleeps in the Elks.
