Nice to bag a 2000+ peak with the kids midweek. Estimate my son is 40lbs on my back and my daughter is 15 in front pouch. Add to that another 8 lbs for food, drinks, diapers, etc. Priceless fun. Pics at http://www.willhiteweb.com/utah/gilson_mountains/champlin_peak_101.htm

the weather was perfect for a hike of Fool Creek Peak but when I got to the road that leads up the canyon, it was closed to all traffic. So, I grabbed my to do list and discovered that nearby was a prominence peak, Champlin Peak. I headed that way and found the right roads that led me close to the peak. From where I parked, it was a nice hike although not the ten miler I had hoped to do on Fool Creek Peak. A good plan would be to combine the two on the same day.
