| Conditions were free of snow until 2 miles from the top. Very icy. The week before a 29 year old woman slipped and fell 1000' down an ice chute. She died. Saw people wearing running shoes... We wore lightweight crampons to play it safe... Came down Winter Creek and did not see any snow there... Overall, a nice day hike... | |

| Going to the summit up Big Santa Anita Canyon and returning down the Winter Creek Trail is a good conditioning hike which I've done a few times. | |
