Have hiked it several times, including same as Tioga (below). One of the better views in the Smokies!

Summitted while doing a 30 mike trip along the AT from Newfound Gap to Davenport Gap with my brothers. Spent some time on Charlies Bunion to take in the views.

We hiked from Newfound Gap. It was really hazy. After we got to the top of the Bunion, we continued north on the AT for a few miles and then turned around. The haze lifted as we approached the Sawteeth and the Bunion appeared very impressive indeed.

7.9 mile hike from the lookout down the AT. Recommend you scramble up above the bunion, great view looking down. Hit some rain on the way back, but not too bad

Not the best views... but typical for April. A beautiful dayhike to "the Bunion" from Newfound Gap.

Totally socked in with no views. Still a cool rock outcropping though.

What better way to bring in the New Year than to take a nice day hike. I remember really enjoying being able to hike without 'post-holing' through deep snow in Jan. I had moved to NC from MT just a couple months before this hike. The trail cruises through spruce/fir forest which reminded of MT. It's nice to have a little of bit of the old with the new!

Good easy day hike - fall colors just barely still hanging on. Good one to do for my first time in the Smokies.

The title gives my impression of where my hubby scrambled to. I wouldn't get on the main rock because of a dizzy spell. Gotta remember to NOT look down.

A nice, wet, hike in the woods. First "climbing" trip east of the Mississippi. Six inches of wet, heavy snow fell the night before we climbed via the A.T. Headed north and ambled over the summit of Mt. Ambler, passed nearby Kephart, and over "Masa Knob" just before arriving at the Bunion. A fun day. Met several "Through Hikers" which was great.

It was great to hike this with my dad and it was much better than I expected. A great view and very little effort. Do I have to go back to Gatlinburg now?

This is a great dayhike along the AT from Newfound Gap. Also serves as a good trail run along this stretch of AT since there are no major sustained climbs or descents -- very runnable.

surprised with the snowy/icy AT around 6000 feet. it was beautiful with the weird, snow covered branches on only one side.

gorgeous day in the smokies.

This was a really great hike since it was my first real winter hike with snow and ice (growing up in FL gave me a fascination with snow and mountains). There were many portions of the trail that were like an ice luge. We had brought yacktrax, and even though they weren't as secure on the ice as the instep crampons we saw another hiker wearing, they got the job done-- nervously. The view was breathtaking as well.

Hiked up here in the snow with some good friends, one of whom suffered from hypothermia on the second day of the trip.

Crossed it while on the AT. I think my friend lost some custom photography equipment here ;)

Besides almost breaking my neck on the downslope trail from Ice Water Springs (ICE is the keyword), the slip 'n slide walking was worth the fantastic views from the Bunion.
