Nice peak, easier & quicker than Whipple  Sucess!

Nice climb, nothing tricky. For reference, this is both significantly easier and quicker than nearby Whipple, which I mention since they're close enough that many folks will hit both on the same trip.

sweet  Sucess!

Cloudy to start but the beautiful winter sun of SW deserts did not let down. Near perfect weather, winds very light. I think this is the first time I've used a gpx for guidance from summitpost. Much gratitude to the community for posting this! Solo.

Amazing Peak  Sucess!

Chemehuevi Peak was the last summit to tackle on my Mojave tour. I was exhausted from the previous three peaks that I bagged the days prior(East Ord, Kingston, Kelso dunes). I wanted to get an early start. There was a full moon and I knew that it would help me in navigating the cactus forest in the dark.
The journey was very spiritual in nature. I caught an animal that was watching me closely. I could see its eyes look at me and glance away in the dark. It was an eerie feeling in the dark. It was amazing to see all the diversity in cactus. I would say that one of my favorites is the ocotillo(Fouquieria splendens) that is bush like. The route to the summit entailed ascending a canyon up to a gully. Climbing the dry waterfalls were amazing. You could see the lava flow squeezing throughout the rock. It was so beautiful. Once I made the summit, the views were incredible overlooking the Colorado River. The wind was blowing so hard that I feared getting blown off the summit. It was difficult to film the summit. The walk through the cactus forest was incredible on the exit.

2nd Ascent  Sucess!

#59 on second run through of the DPS list. Drove down from Las Vegas in the morning, climbed the peak (people make too much ado about the cholla. Yes, it's thick in there, but easily avoidable), then drove over to the TH for Stepladder.

Splendid CA wilderness  Sucess!

Remote, beautiful granite desert. Beware crumbly, treacherous rock and cholla cactus "land-mines"! Amazing views from the summit.

Nice Peak  Sucess!

This was part of an 8 day trip in which I also did Kingston, East Ord, Kelso Dunes, Whipple, Cady, Mastadon, Eagle, and attempted Clark. Chemehuevi was one of my favorites of the trip.
