Chocolate on the way to Goode
Bishop Pass to Ruwau Lake trail to Chocolate. Pretty good use trail to the top. Found a register in PVC tubing. Nice views of the 13ers all around.

Tasty dessert
A relaxed hike before heading down 395. Great views from the lower pinnacle over Bull Lake, the fall colors around which were spectacular.

Beautiful
Nice warmup hike for Whitney the next day. This area is arguably more beautiful than the whole Whitney basin. Hiked up from South Lake, ascended from the back side.

After failed goals the day prior hit Chocolate on the way back. Took a trail just before Long Lake(if headed towards Bishop Pass) that lead to where Bull Lake and Long meet. Headed up, a few areas were an easy class 3 to a false summit. Traverse to true summit to the south. Great views

Chocolate Peak
Circumnavigated and summited from the south side. Great views from the top of the surrounding area -- Cloudripper, Hurd, Goode and the lakes along the Bishop trail.
How do you convince your wife to go on a hike? Find a cool named peak, short distance and go up on the short class 3 toward the top. Everyone's happy.

Summitted and circumnavigated Chocolate Peak with Ruvicha, Jim* and Steve2. A fun and relatively easy hike, with nice views of the Bishop trail and Cloudripper, which we had climbed two days before.

After Goode
Climbed Mount Goode, but with some of the team not making it to Mount Goode, one of them joined us to at least have a summit for the day.

Chocolate Sunday
Originally the day was planned as an ascent of Aggasiz after climbing Goode the day before, but a wedding party in my campground had a live band blasting from eight to well after midnight, nonstop. I got so little sleep I decided to climb Chocolate instead, taking the loop around the peak from the Bishop Pass trail. Easy, mellow day with many fine lakes along the way to admire.

Bailed on Cloudripper due to sketchy conditions in the west chute and bagged Chocolate Peak as a consolation prize for the day.

oh yea, that's right..I wanted an excuse to get out on a beautiful fall day (perfect weather before the storm), and was aiming for Picture Puzzle but it's north slopes had too much snow on them.
Tons of signatures in the summit register. Fine day with perfect weather.

Up South, Down NW
Easy peak to tag while out taking a peek over Bishop Pass. Was a great reprieve from post-holing!

NW up; S down
Took NW slope up via "Vanilla Flat;" came down from the South, passing Ruwau Lake
Took the geologically scenic scramble - up the seam between white to gray marble and choco quartzite. Lovely scramble, very worthwhile. Our next objective, Cloudripper, stared down at us from the summit. Great lake views.
