Pretty neat, Marc. Is it actually a rainbow? I shot a photo of a similar event and IIRC they were luminescent clouds. Here's my pic ...

Rappelling and Luminescent Clouds

I was looking almost straight up, so this isn't a rainbow (sun must be opposite direction of rainbow with respect to the observer). Regardless, a very nice image--thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the compliment, Mark.
Yes, I know this is not a rainbow, but I just didn't know what to call it. It did have all of the right colors, but it didn't bow. I checked out your photo and it seems to have color concentration in one area. I saw something similar to that not far from where my photo was taken. In any event, I thought it was unusual and kind of neat.
Thanks for the visit and the comment, Mark.

very nice shot! 10 points! But the saturation... sometimes is LESS more!

Thank you Sebastian. I know, a lot of times LESS is MORE, just like in acting.

Great shot Marc.....outstanding capture as always. I like how the saturation brings out the rainbow, nice work.....was the rainbow a sign of bad weather to come or was this taken after that bad weather had already passed by? Happy Trails out there.

Thank you very much Trevor.
I had never seen this kind of effect during or after a storm, then I saw it twice in one day. There were some clouds in the sky and we got a few drops, but didn't amount to much. I was just lucky to be there at the time.
Happy trails to you too,

Thank you, Eric. Pure luck to be there at the time and notice it. It lasted for a short time and fizzled out.

Thanks again Borut. I had never seen a rainbow like this and I feel lucky to notice it while hiking the trail that day.
