Thank you very much saxmotor. I was surprised to see it too. In fact I saw another smaller one the same day about 30 miles from this location.

That's a great photo of a circumhorizon arc! For more on this neat optical phenomenon, check out http://www.atoptics.co.uk/halo/cha2.htm

I wouldn't have known what it was, except that I saw one too a few weeks ago, and did some research online to figure out what it was: http://www.joeandfrede.com/colorado/michigan_ditch/michigan_ditch.htm?photo=11

Thank you so much, Joe. I wouldn't have known how to even go about finding out more about this phenomenon. I made the correction and included the link to the sight.
Thanks again,
Best Regards,

Thank you Terranitup. Glad you like it.
BTW, I think you need a "Profile Image" for your page. It can be a photo of yourself or a scenery. Just about anything will do.

Thank you very much, Byron. From time to time we come to a special moment. I was lucky to have a camera with me for this one.

What an awesome shot of this beautiful atmospheric phenomena. Thank you for posting, I have always wondered what this occurrence in the sky was. I was fortunate to see a few neat ones this summer.

I had seen a small one only once before, but I got lucky to notice this much bigger one. The best part was that I had my camera with me.
Thanks for the visit and the comment.

Gotta say this has to be the coolest shot I've seen on summitpost. Thanks for sharing it!

I had never seen anything like it before, and never again since. But, I feel lucky that I got to see it once.
Thank you for checking it out and your comment mcmurdosound.
