Cirque de Gavarnie

Cirque de Gavarnie

Spectacular view of the twisted layers of rock of the cirque du Gavarnie. Summit on the left is the Pic du Marboré (3248m) . To the right of it are the 3 Pics de la Cascade (3161m, 3106m and 3095m) and l'Epaule (3069m). On the right you can just see the Refuge des Sarradets.

Uff...so beautiful

What an amazing area! I wish to go there. Unfortunately haven't been yet to Pyrenees. In your opinion what would be the most beautiful area for first visit? Or this is impossible question :-)

Re: Uff...so beautiful

Well it's a tough question... but if I'd have to recommend something I'd definitely say the Gavarnie / Ordesa area. It won't dissapoint you, that's for sure! I have rarely seen such amazing rock formations and landscapes...

I am according to rbi, Ordesa and Gavarnie are the better places to be initiated in the Pyrenees.

Certainly, nice photo by rbi.

Re: Uff...so beautiful

Also, go a little bit early in the season, as the snow melts almost completely during the summer. With snow it's much much more beautiful! This picture is taken around half july.
