Classic Elbert Photo

[ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ]
Classic Elbert Photo
Scene on the lower part of the North Mount Elbert Trail. I think that the summit seen in this photo is one of several false summits you encounter on Elbert's northeast ridge. (Scanned from my only Elbert print, July 1994).

This may be the most photographed spot on SummitPost apart from summit shots. As of 9/23/09, see photos 73996, 78938, 115699, 267371, 307640, 316323, 316825, 340001, 418409, and 556122, most of which are better than this old photo!

Yes, it is one of at least 3 distinct false summits you encounter before rounding a bend and seeing the actual summit ridge.
