Notice...all of the dead hemlocks! They're pretty much all gone in the Gorge. A few nice ones near the falls area that were treated against infestation by the National Park Service. And a few here and there that haven't quite died, but overall, they're extinct in that area.

Re: Notice...Yeah, it's pretty hard to not notice all the dead trees when you are in the southern Appalachians Are they completely gone or is there second growth coming along?

Re: Notice...Unless some way pops up to deal with the invasive species Hemlock wooly adelgid, then our native hemlock species (Eastern and Carolina) are extinct. That means forever.
