Climbing beside the...
Climbing beside the snowpatch. There's less protection than I'd like, but some people do it unroped.

Fred Beckey and Yvonne Chouinard climbed and descended this route. At the top of the snow, Fred handed their one ice axe to Yvonne, took a long piton like a dagger in each hand, and standing-glissaded the snowpatch! Kids, don't try this at home.
