Climbing the Runnel Pitch
February 15th, 2010 - Climbing what I dubbed the "Runnel Pitch" in the chutes climbed to transition from the Sargents Traverse to the Rime Traverse via the notch (#5 in this photo). It had two steep short headwalls, which I traversed across in order to stay away from debris raining down the runnel to my right (actually, I'm just finishing crossing it here).

As the sun hit these rocks, rime started raining down, and the runnel had a steady stream of ice chunks, and I wondered if the larger pieces would start peeling off. Time to move on!

For convenience, I'm calling this stretch the "Rime Traverse".
