| I climbed this mountain a few years ago. It was the pinnacle of a 5 day trip in the Smokies. Hiking up to the parking lot there was a woman standing in the middle of the trail just staring at us. I thought there was a bear behind me. I guess she just couldn't believe we had walked all the way up there. Oh yeah, and visibility was zero! | |

| I climbed this one from Elkmont campground. Wasn't expecting the heat humidity to be an issue and ended up dehydrating myself... stupid mistake. Either way I made it to the top. Great hike. Hiking from a lower elevation is worth it, you get to enjoy the dense forest and the nooks between the mountain ridges. | |

| My friend Bob and I did a "one car car shuttle"-I started from the Gap,hiking up the AT, and Bob drove to the parking lot just below the summitand hikd down to the gap. Works out well. Overcast day- no views. | |

| In 1986 our family did a highpoints driving trip and hit Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Kentucky's high points. Clingmans Dome was number 25 of my 49 state high points, number 24 for Vanessa, and number 11 for Hillary and Holly. | |

| Been to Clingmans Dome a bunch of times, always with a crowd. The huge stands of dead Fraser Firs always amaze me. Climbed from the parking lot, not sure I'd want to exert more effort for the scene at the top. | |
