Best view in the park  Sucess!

Hitchhiked after work up to Tenaya Lake, spent the night on the granite beneath the stars, then went over Cloud's Rest and down to Yosemite. Met a great girl on top and jogged/ran most of the way down to Happy Isles, capped off by the delicious but overpriced Curry Village buffet.

Enough granite to astound a NH boy  Sucess!

My first hike in the Sierra, and I just couldn't get over how much granite was out there. It was enough to bring me back to the range the following years, 50-something summits and counting.

Route Climbed: Northeast Ridge  Sucess!

Hiked solo from Tenya Lake in 2.5 hours. Met a great couple from Holland on the summit, they were just finishing up a 4 day backpack trip through little Yosemite Valley. A very rewarding experience.

Made a wonderful camp on the lower slopes of Cloud's Rest with a greta view of the Clark Range. Wicked thunderstorm with nearby lightning strikes scrared the hell out of us.

Wanted this for a long time, but illness & traffic stopped me. Feeling so-so(?), I left SJC, CA again at 2:00a and hit Tenaya trailhead by 6:45a. With recent illness, didn't know if I would need to camp -- so I backpacked (not u-light) to summit by noon -- filmed, lunched and drank it all in by 1:30p -- dragged back into TenayaLk by 6:30p. A 3 hour nap, and the drive home closed out the 24 hr loop extraordinaire!

Route Climbed: From Tenaya Lake Date Climbed: August 9, 2005  Sucess!

This was a fun hike. It was not too difficult, but I would not say it was completely easy. My brother and I reached the summit in about 2 1/2 hours. We had the summit all to our selves for about 30 minutes since we were early enough in the morning. As we headed back down we past maybe a dozen or more hikers, but about half of them were just going to the Sunrise Lakes area. We stopped by Whoa Nelly Deli for fish tacos and headed home.

Oh yeah, there is a squirrel/chipmunk up there that likes to scavenge for food. Watch your backpacks as he knows exactly where the food is and he is not afraid of humans. His name is "Paco".

It's views like this that will always leave me speechless. Skipped work and hiked it with my brother. It was very clear and without a lot of traffic on the summit (Monday). This was my third summit, after backpacking over it with my Dad and dayhiking it with Maria.

Beautiful hike and some of the best views around! We left pretty early and we're glad we did, because we saw lots of traffic heading up on the way back.

Route Climbed: From Tanaya Lake Date Climbed: July 22, 2005  Sucess!

Fun hike with my brother Brian to an impressive viewpoint. Saw evidence of a huge flash flood the day before that required several people to be rescued - wow! The meadows and creeks were unusually wet for July. We hiked fast due to a late start, but were still up and back in a little over 5 hours, leaving time for a refreshing swim in Tanaya Lake.

Route Climbed: Northeast Ridge from Sunrise Trailhead Date Climbed: July 14, 2005

A bit warm but otherwise a great day, It was very crowded at the summit. There musty have been two dozen people up there. There were also quite a few backpackers along the way, including a group of 6 from London who left the day after the bombing and wondered if they were going to get their Yosemite trip in, Most were headed for Sunrise Lakes.

Watch for the mosquitos! Some route finding had to be done as there was lots of snow on route. Fresh bear prints also seen. Greatest views of the valley. Comparable to Inspiration Point on the other end.

Beautiful, remote spot with views over Half Dome. Only passed a couple other climbers the whole time. Beautiful weather.

We started from the Little Yosemite campground after hiking to Half Dome the day before. Heading to the summit and all the way back to the car made for about 16 miles, but it was a very nice hike. We saw a baby rattler on the way up, but fortunately it didn't seem to mind our presence.

Route Climbed: from Happy Isles Date Climbed: June 11th, 2005  Sucess!

Started around 10:30am from Happy Isles and reached the summit by 4:30pm. Would have made it faster ,but up towards the top there was snow. Enjoyed the views of all the snow caps ,then left about 5:00pm making it back to Happy Isles by 8:30pm. I liked the hike better then half-dome.

I was a little concerned about climbing Cloud's Rest, since the Tuolumne hiking guide said that it is not one for the "acrophobis", which I considered myself to be at the time. But man, there is nothing like a shweeping wave of granite to make you forget about all those piddling human concerns. What a great peak.
