coca tea

coca tea
Mate de Coca - the leaves contain several alkaloids including cocaine, though the amount of cocaine in the leaves is very small small, around 0.4%. I never got high....Owing to the presence of the stimulant alkaloids, the coca tea provides a source of energy similar to coffee.
The consumption of Coca tea, as well as chewing the leaves, increases the absorption of oxygen in blood, which helps combat altitude sickness.

the movie "Pappion." Steve McQueen was given coca leaves to chew while running from the Federalis in south American jungles. I guess I should try it sometime.
