Coconino Crags | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
The West Fork Trail (FS #108) is an easy trek back and forth across a
shallow creek at the floor of a thousand-foot-deep canyon. Verdant green
pines, firs and oaks contrast against steep walls composed of red
"Schnebly" and pale "Coconino" sandstone.
You can hike up to three miles with little difficulty, but if you want to go further, be prepared for wading up to your knees or deeper.
The best time for hiking is October when the maples and oaks light up the canyon, and the early afternoon shadows embellish the sandstone crags.

Hasn't voted | Trina, you have very GOOD eyes !!!
Hmmmmm, I have nothing better to do than to
stare into my computer's monitor looking for
Teddy Roosevelt.
Let's see. Is that him in the shadow of the
Ponderosa Pine tree, to the lower left? He
looks like he might have shaved his
mustache before appearing in this photo!!!
He's in good company with Mother Nature,
that's for sure! Have a nice day, Trina!!! | | Posted Nov 1, 2008 9:04 pm |

Hasn't voted | Good eyes - I didn't know at the time that
this photograph would be so "presidential."
Which reminds me...
Or, perhaps THIS one ?? | | Posted Apr 25, 2009 8:06 pm |

Hasn't voted | I see Teddy -
His name isn't Freddy,
How 'bout Tom Petty?
The classic ROCK singer?
He's not a dead ringer,
For Theodore the man -
But, I'm doing the best I can. | | Posted May 1, 2009 6:39 pm |
