Hasn't voted | ... is the polarizer and some fine weather. By darkening sky and meadows the camera is tricked into using a lower shutter speed which in turn brings out the bright rocks. This works especially fine with the pale dolomite rock.
Actually the Nikon camera I was using needs some polarizer enhancement. Otherwise the colours are just too dull. A good comparison would be:

Hasn't voted | I checked with one of the linked shots above - using the auto gradation curve function actually produces a somewhat similar result - still you see it's not real. Polarizers take off reflections by tiny dust particles which usually produce a grey layer. Software can only compensate part of that. | | Posted Dec 22, 2005 4:14 pm |
