The elevation of the col is about 18,500 feet plus or minus a hundred feet or so. The face behind is the west face of the 6,367 meter (shorter) summit of Toboche. When we were on the South West Ridge of Cholatse, this face was swept by several huge avalanches.

One of the most spectacular places that I've been and simply beautiful too. A fellow Colorado climber, Grey Sievers took this shot.

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."   --Calvin Coolidge
