| mcpherma | Finally ![]() Date Climbed: May 12, 2010 | |
| After trying to plan this trip for about 6 weeks and always having something come up to thwart my plans, including pneumonia, I finally was able to make the trip. The weather forecast threatened to keep me away for one more week, but a buddy and I went anyway. We were rewarded with clear blue skies, little to no wind and gorgeous views from the top. Thank you to the party that left before us, (my alarm didn't go off) we had a perfect trail of steps already kicked into the deep, soft snow. Great trip and I will do this one again. | ||

| Almost gave up at the lake but decided to go for it at the last minute. Going down was the best glissade in my entire life. Beautiful. Exhausting. Well worth it. | ||

| Tough trip but awesome summit. I am glad I did it in early spring because the Class 3 crux from the col was basically a snow climb which is my favorite. Want to do Dragontail soon. | ||

| Made it up both but Colchuck Col was way too late in the season with blue ice in places...had to scramble around in a side moat. Pictures and map at http://www.willhiteweb.com/enchantments/dragontail_peak/colchuck_lake_089.htm | ||

| Had every intention of bagging Colchuck and Dragontail. Turned around less than 100 feet from the saddle between the two peaks, due to rockfall. Small stuff is bad enough, but when a microwave sized rock comes barreling down at you and you still have to downclimb it later- that's just not a game I'm playing. | ||

| RomaK | Colchuck & Dragontail in a day ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 11, 2009 | |
| Climbed up Colchuck glacier, then up the ridge to the summit, picking out some fun class 3-4 steps to climb on the way up. Then descended to the col, climbed Dragontail, and came back down to the lake via Aasgard pass. Descending from the notch at Pandora's Box involved a short 15 ft step of 55-60 degree snow. | ||

| Scrambled up with only 100' or so of visibility. Combined with Dragontail, Witches Tower, Little Annapurna, and McClellan all in the same day, starting from Colchuck trailhead. Long day! | ||

| After climbing Dragontail last spring break, I had to return for Colchuck this year. I had big plans of climbing multiple peaks, but knee/waist deep powder snow and a sore ankle added a lot to the travel time. I only beat the weather on the summit by a half an hour. What a beautiful place. I can't wait until next year. | ||

| Although we had planned on climbing Dragontail, we changed our route to Colchuck because of the white out. Beautiful views of the lake before we hit the cloud layer. | ||

| the area was completely in clouds when I came here two weeks ago. On Jun22 I drove in the night before and started at 5AM from the Stuart Lake trailhead. I went up to Colchuck Col by the Colchuck glacier route. Views were very impressive, truly 'enchanting'. I had a great day overall. hardest part was the drive back to Redmond but managed to be back without events :( | ||

| Mr. Clam | Colchuck Glacier late season ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 20, 2007 | |
| After being weathered out on Rainier we decided to use our last day in Washington to try Colchuck, hoping that the weather would be better on a smaller peak. It wasn't. It poured rain on us all day. The glacier was melted down to bare ice on the steep part and had running water over the top from all the rain and melting snow. Shrund at the top of glacier was big but still passable on the climbers left. | ||
