Coldwater Lake

Coldwater Lake

Coldwater Lake is the only lake in the Wellsville Mountains. It was frozen in late November. The route up Coldwater Canyon goes near the lake and has several campsites

Coldwater!

Great name for this lake! I know you are
a mountain climber, but do you ever stop
and relax for a moment at these mountain
lakes? Do you ever see any signs of
amphibians, such as frogs or tadpoles!
Just curious! I used to see a massive
amount of (Leopard frogs) when I went
fishing at Strawberry Reservoir. Thanks!
(I'm referring to summer season!)

Re: Coldwater!

Thanks! The lake is named after the canyon it is located in. This one won’t be winning any pretty lake awards though. I have seen a lot of amphibians and frogs. While hiking in remote areas in the desert I’ve had to drink my share of brown tadpole water. Swimming in really cold water doesn’t seem very fun to me but some of the people that I hike with enjoy it. I’m always anxious to climb mountains so the only time I sit near a lake is when I’m camping.

Perhaps...

you could write a book in regards to
your experiences. Please, if you have
