| What frustration to summit this peak again, with Flora as the end goal, and come up empty-handed on Flora...again! High winds forced a turnaround. Grrrr. I think I'll just wait for summer and visit Flora from the east. Enough with the crap, already! :) | |

| From Berthoud, this is a pretty easy acclimation hike. Basically the definition of class 1 on the way up, you follow a wonderful dirt road. Ugly summit, but amazing views! There is a small trail just north of the utility poles if you need a bailout option for the descent. | |

| The first of seven peaks I hiked (eleven if you count repeats on the return) on a trip along the continental divide - together with Bancroft, Parry (twice), Eva (twice), Wittier, Breckenridge, and Flora (3 times, with a night on the summit). A very long day up high! | |

| the wind was so strong at the top, there was almost zero visibility from all the windblown snow. It was also really really cold. I had more ambitious plans, but I walked back after this one. My toes were totally frozen. | |

| 4/12/08- slogged up colorado mines from berthoud pass in a windstorm with jamie. we made it halfway to flora before giving up and running home. whoa, it was windy; i was half expecting random rocks to fly across our path! 2/26/10- scooted over colorado mines on my way to the 13er, mount flora. area seemed the same way i left it 2 years prior as the wind and snow had teamed up with low visibility to make for a doozy of an outing. jamie | |

| Hiked up Colorado Mines, Flora and Breckinridge, and made an attempt at Cone, from Berthoud Pass following the Continental Divide Trail most of the way. Easy hike on a nice day, although dark clouds started moving in so we only got about half way to Cone before turning back. While the Trails Illustrated map shows the trail summiting Breckinridge, it skirts the summit to the north. | |
