Overview
Under construction! The Columbia River Gorge slices dramatically through the Cascade Mountain Range from the eastern drylands to the Pacific Ocean.
This natural channel through the mountains is used as a major transportation corridor with two major rail lines, one freeway (I-84) and one state Hwy (WA Rte 14) in addition to the voluminous barge traffic up and down the river. Because of this, access is excellent from either side of the Gorge and in spite of this the vast majority of the Gorge's area remains a pristine environment due to its National Forest/Wilderness Area/Scenic Area status. (More to come - Soon!)
