Trotted up Columbia today via the road, which takes you right under the summit. Arrived from Kansas City last night and since I'm spending a few days in Georgetown, thought this would be a good warm-up. Unfortunately, my rental Avenger doesn't have the ground clearance to get past the first steep section of Bard Creek Road, so this ended up being a LONG warm-up hike!
Great weather today, and managed a few good pictures. Although the view from the summit is partially obstructed, there are some good photo opportunities a few hundred feet below to catch Colorado Mines Peak, Eva, and Flora, among others.
Well, I can't say this was the most exciting summit yet of 2010, but it's nice to get out under bluebird, Colorado winter skies and stretch the legs a little. The snow was pretty deep going - good thing we had a big team to break trail.
"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."
