| Took about ~65 minutes to reach the summit. Had to share the summit with throngs of bugs and flies. Clear day, amazing view of the ocean. | ||

| Beautiful warm clear day with great views of the central coast. Left from the trailhead on Cone Peak Road and summited Cone Peak a little less than an hour later. From there, I bushwacked over to nearby Twin Peak and then followed the ridge top down to join the Stone Ridge Trail. This trail led through Vicente Flat and then climbed up Hare Canyon via the Vicente Flat trail. A final mile along the road returned me to my car and completed the loop. Pics and commentary here | ||

| This was the day I learned D can enjoy an easy day hike. The gray moody views of the ocean, rugged beaches and surrounding hills from the top of Cone Peak were inspirational. | ||

| Diggler | Route Climbed: Lookout trail from Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd. Date Climbed: 29 November, 2003 ![]() | |
| Went up with Lara. Started from trailhead at 10.23. Nice, easy pace got us to the top by 11.40. While not sunny, the skies were mostly clear, the coast below us being socked in at the terminus of some of the deep coastal canyons, but fairly clear up above. The views were astounding, & the weather great, albeit slightly windy. Starting back down @ 12.04, we got back to the trailhead at 13.14. The weather for the region turning cloudy & rainy the next day, the great weather we had on the peak is even more appreciated in retrospect. | ||

| Drizzle, fog, no views, much like Matthew found. I also got lost and did more miles than intended. Seems to be part of the initiation. I even convinced myself that my compass was pointing south when it was pointing north. Not a very clever boy am I. Trip Report. | ||

| Hot ascent on a very hot summer day - great views, one rattlesnake. Jogged back down in about 20 minutes. Don't miss Lime Kiln State Park while you are in the area - 2 short walks are worth the entry fee. | ||

| Matthew Holliman | Route Climbed: Kirk Creek/Cone Peak trails from Hwy 1 Date Climbed: March 16, 2003 ![]() | |
| A longer than intended dayhike via the Kirk Creek trail from Hwy 1. A sunny start to the day turned to rain/snow/thick fog at the top, so no summit views for me... In the fog, I somehow contrived to get turned around on my descent, and ended up deciding to follow the Coast Ridge/Nacimiento-Fergusson roads down--35 miles, probably close to 7000 ft gain for the day! Oops. | ||

| This trail seemed to be very overgrown, however we ran into the forrest service along the way who was clearing away all the overgrowth along the trail, and on the way down, you coudn't tell there was a problem with the overgrowth at all. The Cone Peak road that accesses the trailhead was very difficult to pass in my Nissan Altima, but it was done with only a few scratches on the paint. The trail description in my book (101 Hikes in Northern California, Heid, Wilderness Press) was incorrect. It indicated that the trail was 3 miles round trip. The route was actually 4.72 miles round trip. Also they indicated that the elevation gain was 1400', and it was actually 1678'. It was a great hike!!! I encourage all to do it, the views were incredible!!! | ||

| First time was with my friend Wei and my brother Tony. Spectacular views of the ocean. You can see the Highway 1 bridge crossing the outlet of Limekiln Creek, almost a mile below. | ||
