A View from the house  Sucess!

Hiked with Matthew and had a good time. Make your reservation with the park ranger (free of charge) three days in advance but be aware that your permit may not be at the gate as promised. In this case insist on going and they will yield. The other option is to be creative and tell a good story. It will help with a charming smile.

Normal Route  Sucess!

Hiked/scrambled up this excellent peak with my gf on Thanksgiving. Took a short rope and rack in case we encountered the 5th class climbing we were warned about (park rangers described it as 5.6-5.7)... didn't use the rack at all, and I only got the rope out to belay my gf in one place on the ascent. We didn't use the rope at all on the way down. Most was class 3 with a couple of class 4 moves near the bottom of the scrambling section.

Good views along the upper reaches of the trail towards El Sapo, Cerro de las Mitras, and Cerro de la Silla, and spectacular views from the summit towards the Sierra Madre. Mountains upon mountains and miles of wilderness unfold all of a sudden--completely unexpected.

Normal route  Sucess!

Took me about four hours. Last meters are pretty exposed. Scary without a rope, as stated by tcciv. You have to use hands and feet to climb. Views of the city ofMonterrey are brethtaking from atop. It was very cold, 32F, without the wind factor.

This is my first time to this summit, and it was incredible, we started at "la meseta" at 7:30 and reached the top at 11:30pm.

This was my first real mountain, I would classify the rock passages as 5.5, pretty exposed and scary if you do it without roping up, as my group did. Magnificent views from the summit. Come prepared with repellent and lots of water if you climb from April to September.

Route Climbed: Normal Date Climbed: May-24-2001  Sucess!

Went up there with Club CIMA again, it took me 2 hrs and 47 min, my personal record. We celebrated Mr. Villalonga`s 1000th ascent to this peak.

The views were incredible with a sea of clow clowds over the city and clear skies up there.
