The most increadible time! Hardly anyone about, barely made it there and barely made it out again! Fabulous scenery, many peaks in the area to combine, snow in July, and a great day trip from the valley. Admittedly we came down the next day owing to blood letting in the car park, the Italian Army, an ambulance, and a suspicious hostel owner, but hey, that's impromptu adventures for you.
Route Climbed: Rif.Franchetti and from Sella di Monte Aquila Date Climbed: 28 and 29 July 2001
Beautiful mountain , we arrived to the camp near the mountain at night and the sky was clear , so we could see the mountain against it quite clearly , really great feeling. The climb from both
sides is interesting , but through Monte Aquila its more challenging. We were three days in the area , but every day at exactly 13:30 the storm came , maybe its not always like this.
Vetta Occidentale: 1984 and 1995 by Normal route. May 2004 following Direttissima
This year I climbed with friends starting at 02:00 a.m with the aim at celebrating my birthday on the summit with a breakfast based on champagne and sandwiches; it was a foggy day with snow but really a nice birthday!

Route Climbed: direttissima sud alla vetta occidentale Date Climbed: 11 september 2004very impressive rocky mountain, it's surprising to see some snow just 100 kilometers away from Roma.
the day I climbed it the normal route was over crowded, the direttissima sud looks much more interesting

It was a pity but the fog didn't allow us to see the panorama!
