The night before, temps dropped and it rained for hours. We woke up to a film of ice over some water that had pooled on the tent. The morning was clear and cold but the clouds came back in a few hours. There was about an inch of fresh snow above 7000', and as I headed up the ridge to Patrick Gass, I thought the snow might start again. It didn't, and things actually started to get clear again in the afternoon, but rains came back briefly later. So, typical Montana weather!
