Cotopaxi crater

One of the most amazing mountain tops. I wish it could be visible every time I climb it.

Re: Cotopaxi crater

I believe it is more than 150 meters deep. I know the first climbers who climbed down the crater were members of a Czech - Polish expedition in 1973. Since then many ecuadorians teams have visited the crater.

Great view!

You were lucky! I didn't see anything due to the fog! Wonderful view of the crater: for me it was the reason for climbing Cotopaxi!

Re: Great view!

Yes Edoardo, for many climbers this is the highlight of Cotopaxi's climb and a worth it experience.

I haven't seen it several times... and I've been lucky to see it many times too. I wish the crater could be visible to all climbers who reach the summit, cause it's something out of this world!
